Pulsar RS 200 or NS 200 , which one to choose?

After today's launched of RS 200 many awaited rider's wishes must be came true as some of them were waiting for Pulsar RS 200 from more than year before but many of the budding riders don't knows much about which motorcycle to buy, The two obvious value for money sport bikes in market are RS 200 and 200 NS , As for hardware of RS 200, bike shares many of it's parts and components with 200 NS ,
So let's have look below what's major difference between RS 200 and 200 NS.

Price

The very first thing considered when we go out to purchase sport bike is price point, We try to figure out what features bike is offering in given price point , There isn't much price difference between RS 200 base model and 200 NS.

If you choose RS 200 , you get state of the art fuel injection system for crisp throttle responses. With F.I. no matter in what condition you're riding your motorcycle cold or hot  the F.I. provides consistency in engine response and thus you don't have to calibrate right hand with accelerator for your riding style.
Fully fairing is another advantage of RS 200 over NS, you get nice amount of wind protection for long highway hauls. RS also comes with twin projector headlamp at front which gives good illumination for optimize night riding's.
If you choose 200 NS , you get naked muscular bike which come's with old school carburetor which obviously have lagging throttle response compare to F.I. but still carburetor have advantage over F.I. The bike with carburetor can be repaired at any road side mechanic shop as there is no electronics involves whereas bike such as RS 200 can't be repaired at roadside mechanic if there is fueling problems.
Naked bike means there is no fairing which saves lots of weight , the reduction in weight helps to achieve more fuel efficient operations thus surely NS will have edge or RS in term of fuel efficiency.
In the accidental situations naked bikes requires less repairing and maintenance cost so there again 200 NS have edge over RS 200.

Performance

It is very important criteria for enthusiast or sport rider, and the bike which have more power is obvious choice for them , but there is more to it than just outright power figures!

IF you choose RS 200 you get state of the art liquid cooled motor which is been used in 200 NS with 24.5 bhp at 9750 rpm and almost same 18.6 Nm of torque at 8000 rpm, The 1 bhp increment doesn't sounds much but bike will have significant amount of top end thrust because that 1 bhp increment comes at top of the rev range which is good for highway blasts and racing conditions.
But what you're going to sacrifice is traffic riding low end force. The NS was already pain to ride in traffic due to short stroke motor, urges you to pull clutches in traffic and we recon with RS 200 the traffic affairs are going to be worst and to make matter even critical RS 200 is good 20 kg heavier than 200 NS, So it's our advice if you're a rider who frequently rides through heavy city traffic you should avoid this bike.
If you choose 200 NS you get straight line acceleration advantage and acceleration advantage in twisty turns compare to RS 200 but you'll loose top end performance and high speed stability of RS 200 due to higher weight and fully faired design of RS 200.
You'll get better off-road capability with 200 NS due to higher ground clearance. RS have low ground clearance which is vulnerable to off roading and thus increases risk of scrapping beautiful fairing. So if you do frequent off roading NS is definitely bike to go with

Safety

Having fun on bike and returning home safely is something which make's us worry every time we take risk of aggressive sport riding, so lets take look into this criteria.

If you choose RS 200 you get ABS enabled brakes ABS stands for anti-lock braking system. No matter how hard rider holds brake leaver , The tire never get's lock under hard braking situations, the ABS modulates braking force at disks according to motorcycles speed and saves rider from skids. Therefor if you choose RS you gets safety assurance of ABS.
RS 200 gets sticky MRF rubber which helps to grip road surface better than Eurogrip tires , which will give you more confidence for hard riding's and aggressive corner entries.
If you choose 200 NS you don't get ABS even as an option,  leaving out very good safety bracket. You have to modulate braking force on your own , something which is only experienced riders can do perfectly during sprinted ridings. The Eurogrip tire's on 200 NS makes matter even worst you have to be very cautious in lean to lean transitions, The front end feel of 200 NS during corner entries isn't enticing either again due to Eurogrip tires. So if safety is your priority we recommend you to take RS 200 over 200 NS.

So that's our comparison over newly launched RS 200 and Existing 200 NS, if you still have questions you can drop in comment box.

Suzuki India to launch Gixxer SF on 7th April 2015

The Suzuki Gixxer SF , sounds familiar to us since the inception of Suzuki Gixxer last year. The Gixxer was successful product for Suzuki something which Yamaha's FZ series doing from long time, hence Suzuki India decided to brought fully faired  version of Gixxer which will be Gixxer SF according to company. We have shown you couple of spyshots of Gixxer SF in previous posts at here and here.
Gixxer SF looks absolutely fabulous with full fairing front end have soul of big GSX-R class motorcycles and raise rear end is same as of that naked Gixxer. Powered by same 155 cc air cooled engine producing 14.8 bhp and 14 Nm of torque, though bike doesn't have that peak power interface or point and shoot dynamics of R15 but we know for ordinary customers of our country Looks matters much than specifications.
Gixxer SF will be price in between somewhere 80 to 90 thousands , looking in the segment of Gixxer SF , there in no actual competitor which can give such bang for buck and if you're thinking about macho looking Fazer then wait because Fazer is lower on power as well as torque compare to Suzuki's motor, Suzuki India is going to launch Gixxer SF in 7th April 2015 and we know many buyers who wants to purchase their first fully faired bike are desperately waiting for Gixxer SF because Gixxer SF is going to be cheapest fully faired bike in country.

Bajaj to offer RS 200 in two Variants

Pulsar AS 200 along RS 200
Right from the first spyshot's back in 2013, The Pulsar RS 200 (known as 200 SS before) is one of the most anticipated bike in India, So much that we think Bajaj don't even need's to advertised RS 200 specifically!
But that was about past, as Bajaj is going to launch  Pulsar RS 200 on 26th March. What interesting thing of piece we've for you is there are two variants in Pulsar RS 200. The top end variant will get F.I. and duel channel ABS with slight higher power figure over base model due to F.I. the exciting thing about RS 200 is even base model is receiving ABS, but with single channel at front brake, the base model will continue to feed by carburetor found in Pulsar 200 NS and probably having same 23 bhp of  power as NS .
In above picture you can see Pooja is carried over Bike's and there is Pulsar 200 AS (adventure sports) is along with RS 200, this hints that Bajaj have started production of Pulsar RS 200 along with 200 AS. Pulsar 200 is semi faired tourer friendly version of Pulsar 200 NS. It's still unclear that if Bajaj will launch Pulsar 200 AS along RS 200 or not ? But for this moment you should enjoy production line picture's of RS 200 from Bajaj's Chakan plant.
Pulsar RS 200 production line
The top variant of Pulsar RS 200 will be priced at 1.35 lakh onroad while base model will come at good 10 to 12 thousands less. The third Pulsar  in first picture which is 200 AS will priced some 5 to 7 thousands premium over Pulsar 200 NS.

Early words over Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 eka 200 SS's Riding Dynamics

Back in history when 200 NS launch , It marked new history for Handling department as because almost Every Pulsar before 200 NS was afraid to approach corners like hooligan, Pulsar's heavy front end simply isn't confidence inspiring for weekend twisty blasts or track duties. But when Pulsar 200 NS came in scenario she simply changed lazy perspective regarding Pulsar's handling, The key of success was her preciously divided 50:50 weight distribution and perimeter frame.

Learned from history Bajaj choose to use 200NS as basis model for fully faired RS 200. So what should we expect from RS 200 over its naked sibling 200 NS? Obviously first thing comes in mind about RS 200 is it's fully faired avatar , right! which means RS 200 should have good straight line stability compare to 200 NS which will help in longer highway hauls as well as visor will help rider to tuck behind for aggressive ridings. When we talk about aggressive ridings we think about ourselves or probably about GP riders leaning their body down at front this is possible when clip on's bars are used. Here Bajaj have went wrong , for cost cutting measure's what they have did on RS 200. Instead of designing new clip on bars elements they have used 200 NS's existing handle bars with slight trick! Trick is to inverse the bar holder elements, previously on 200 NS bar holders which connects handle bar's with front forks are design to be rear lean, The same bar holder have used on RS 200, with right bar holder to left and left bar holder to right. for what ?  to make rider feel front lean  but will it help any better in handling department it's yet to see. We feel they should have lower the handle bar bit actually rather than simply moving forward , It's one of the cost cutting measure but then you don't expect such thing's from flagship pulsar model.

Chassis on RS 200 is same as 200 NS which is good thing , just like with case of Duke 200 and RC 200 but on RC 200 have higher rake and lesser trail compare to Duke 200 for aggressive ridings. It's yet to see if Bajaj have altered rake and trail of their twin spar frame to calibrate RS 200's dynamics cause that's gonna play very important role in bike's character add to that RS 200 having same swing arm as 200 NS which we feel giving slight lazy complete lean to lean transitions. So what we're trying to say is, If Pulsar RS 200 coming with same rake and trail angle as 200 NS (very evident from spyshots) as well as same swing arm, then RS 200 is going to be even more lazy in it's reflexes at corner and twisty turns than 200 NS, which isn't sounds good right ? Add to that RS 200 is 6 kg heavier than 200 NS which is obvious due to fairing.

One of the biggest downer thing we found on 200 NS is Eurogrip tire's  and unfortunately same tire's are going to carried over RS 200. Those Eurogrips simply don't inspire front end feel of bike at high speed corner entries, the grip is so much less that few people are addicted to rear end drifts slides on straight line's!

There is 1 thing which is warm welcome on RS 200 is ABS(antilock breaking system) . Pulsar RS 200 is getting duel channel ABS system which will help to aggressive braking without locking it's wheels which is going to be big plus for this bike. As no other bike in segment having ABS, Bajaj have planned ABS for this bike far back in time as one year old batch of 200 NS have 3 screw holes at rear wheel to hold ABS speed sensor disk.  ABS will definitely help to ride bike at much faster  speeds.

The RS 200 is Bajaj's 2nd bike which is going to get Fuel ejection system after 220 fi (which is discontinued). As we suspect F.I. system on RS 200 will be open loop for cost cutting measures but it'll help bike to ride smoothly. We would like to say F.I. is our favorite part on RS 200. You really starts appreciate F.I. system while your bike is at lean position in corner, you get's predictable and linear type of throttle response with no snatchy responses, cause no matter how good carburetor system is it always lag behind smooth flow of F.I. Just take example of carb on 200 NS. Bike runs smoothly for first few months but after which lower end power band mainly 3000 -5000 rpm band develops inconsistency in it's response and all blame goes to bike's carb. The response of carburetor simply can't match the confidence inspiring response of F.I. system especially at corners. RS 200 will get slight power bump due to F.I.  which will help to maneuver it's higher weight. RS 200 will have top speed around 140 kmph. At the moment we don't have to wait much because RS 200 is going to launch on 26th March for price tag of 1.35 lakh onroad.

How To Achieve More Fuel Efficiency From Your Bike Part 2

Adjust your chain
dirty chain absorbs engine's precious horsepower

Loose chain is going to result in unexpected  damage to bike's drive chain causing some premature wear outs to sprockets and gears, On the twistside , over tight chain causes strain on drive shaft bearings and wheel thus reduces power transmitted through gears. Increase in mechanical drag results poor fuel economy. Adjusting chain tension can be done by anyone , just make sure that it's adjusted according to riders load , read in your bike's owner manual for chain adjustment parameters. Another major factor regarding chain that robs your engine's horsepower is chain lubrication, dried out chain requires more mechanical workload to get job done, therefor it is advised to lubricate your chain at the interval of every 700 to 800 kilometers if it is closed type chain, On the open type chain make habit to lubricate your chain at every 400 to 500 kilometers along with chain cleaning at 900 to 1000 km interval because open type chain grabs dirt much frequently.

Engine oil
Engine oil acts as lubricant and detergent element to your engine, there are many moving parts working in conjunction in motorcycle engine, every time you do twist the throttle some type of mechanical friction takes place there. Engine oil provides slippage to those frictions also engine oil works as cooling agent in engine block but the properties of engine oil lasts longer to few thousand kilometers, after which thickness molecular bonds of oil gave ups and starts to break into smaller molecules and at this point that particular engine oil needs to be replace with new one as older engine oil unable to save engine from heavy mechanical frictions. Usually for commuter rider who ride their bike upto 60% rev band on an average it is recommend to change engine oil at 5000 to 6500 kilometers for mint fuel economy and engine life. For sports riders and enthusiast who usually keeps their rev band upto 80 percent on an average it's recommended to change their engine oil at 3500 to 4500 kilometers. If your bike is older than 4000 to 5000 kilometers try to use fully synthetic engine oils such as Motul 7100 regularly which reduced mechanical friction dramatically and thus bike return's better fuel economy also fully synthetic engine oil increases oil drain period. for commuter upto 8000 kilometers, for sports riders and enthusiasts upto 6000 kilometers.

Keep air filter clean
difference between clean and dirty air filter

Airfilter is like nostrils of your bike's engine, air passes towards engine get's filter through airfilter , and if you use to travel from dusty environments, chances of getting your air filler clogged increases, therefor keeping your airfilter clean is very important for good fuel efficiency. If ever your bike happened to run with stutter in acceleration, empty fuel like sensation while constant throttle and inconsistency in rev needle of tachometer this ultimately points towards clogged and dirty airfilter. You have to clean that air filter with air-wash or replace if it's too much clogged. Clean airfilter helps to breath your engine smoothly and increases fuel economy.

Understand your engine

Try to run your engine as smoothly as possible in other words run your bike in such cruising speed where engine's camshafts, valves works in perfect conjunction. No one can understand your bike's nature except you ! try to find that sweet spot for engine where your engine run's in perfect balance of speed and stress also try to avoid over-revving this will surely help to achieve better fuel economy.

Kawasaki applied for Trademarks with "Ninja R2", may be H2 like superbike!

let's take your imagination to another level ,because Kawasaki has registered Ninja R2 internationally. Ninja name suggests it's for newer motorcycle from Kawasaki, recently we have seem pinnacle of motorcycle engineering in Kawasaki's H2 and H2R with class slashing 300 bhp power figure, This time Ninja R2 seems like something more mass production motorcycle.
As for ZX10R is aging compare to other liter class bike's such as newer R1 and Panigale, may be Kawasaki want's to take lead with Ninja R2, giving her supercharger and latest electronic packages.
Kawasaki have filed US trademark in 2013 , which mean's Kawasaki has had some time to develop their new motorcycle ultimately this translates that we can see some teaser images from ending of this year.

Booking commence at Bajaj dealership for Pulsar 200 SS

And after countless delays, finally launching of most awaited, most spied and technologically most advanced Pulsar is going to take place, Gentlemen Its 200 SS, Yes you heard right! authorized Bajaj dealerships have started taking bookings for Pulsar 200 SS with booking amount of 10,000 rupees and deliveries will take place from next month.

Mechanically bike is same as 200 NS , getting same 199.5 cc single cylinder, 4 valve single cam  liquid cooled motor producing around 24 bhp of power fueling through F.I. throttle body instead of carburetor for consistent performance in any situation, it's yet to see if bike is getting close loop fuel injection or open loop, we think it will be open loop for cost saving measures. Having perimeter frame just like 200 NS , 200 SS will be excellent handler with probably same rake and trail as NS, 200SS is getting side slung exhaust canister unlike 200 NS's lower slung ,which will help to sound more sporty for sure.  Pulsar 200 SS will be excellent bang for buck, bike is offering so much feature for less price than CBR 150R .
Pulsar 200 SS is Bajaj's first fully faired bike and will offer in Yellow, red, blue and black color at cost for 1.35 lakh onroad and it'll go head to head with Yamaha's R15 and Honda's CBR 150R.

Fully faired Gixxer is not Gixxer SLK but Gixxer SF

As our earlier report we mentioned fully faired Gixxer is Gixxer SLK,but it is GIxxer SF, which get's clear from graphics on side fairing cowl of spyshot, bike is getting same engine as naked Gixxer ,155 CC air cooled single , twin valve motor producing 14.8 bhp and 14 nm of torque, fuelling via same carburetor system unlike FI. Bike is expected to get launch in this year infact we think it'll get launch in next month because spyshot's shows almost production ready motorcycles.

Suzuki Gixxer SF's main rival will be Fazer FI V2.0  even though later benefited from electronic fuel injection system, Gixxer SF have more power and torque advantage plus bike is wearing full fairing unlike semi fairing on Fazer.
White color front end seems somewhat similar to older Karizma ZMR front end

Confusion in naming got created due to one of the spy shot on which Suzuki was written in cross across tank to fairing transition on blue color motorcycle(you can see in previous report).
Gixxer SF will be price 4 to 5 thousand premium over naked Gixxer.

Spyshots of upcoming fully faired Suzuki, Gixxer SLK ? sounds interesting!

Rear end is same as Gixxer which isn't bad either

After huge success with Gixxer, Suzuki seems not in mood to hold back, and currently testing fully faired variant of Gixxers known as Gixxer SLK , We know you already thinking about Yamaha's strategy with FZ and Fazer and you ain't wrong ! But interestingly Suzuki repeated lesson of Yamaha  with slight different fashion, Instead of introducing semi faired variant of same bike, Suzuki stepping one step further to bring fully faired motorcycle, Brave move Suzuki! cause Indian's are always thirsty for fully faired motorcycles.
Looking at first spy picture it's clear that Gixxer SLK retains same tail section as Gixxer. Tail lamp, signals, mudguard, 140 section grippy tire, twin port side slung exhaust with chrome end everything is identical.
Front end is inspired by bigger GSX-R motorcycles
Front fairing is cleverly crafted inspired by big bore GSX-R bike's, with pseudo air scoops somewhat similar to Hysoung GT 250R. with yellowish black strips. what interesting thing we're seeing here is Gixxer's existing headlamp assembled with fairing elements beautifully. Where Yamaha did that with twin headlamps in Fazer, and thus Suzuki have shown fully faired sport bike doesn't needs to have twin lamp setup to look sporty.
Rear brake is drum type, disk should be given at least as an option
Side profile is nothing spacial with front fairing going down till engine bottom. with exception of Panel mounted instrument cluster, everything else remains same, there are yellow color strips to wheels, we believe Gixxer SLK to be powered by same engine as current Gixxer. 154.9 cc air cooled motor with twin valves at overhead camshaft producing 14.8 bhp at 8000 rpm, with same 5 speed gearbox.
Gixxer SLK is expected to launch this year,  SLK will give definitely solid fight to Yamaha's Fazer due to higher power figure and could steal few sale numbers of R15 due to fully faired design.
Late but not least we're happy for Suzuki with their decision to bring some handsome looking bike's in India.

Our thoughts over spied TVS bike. Is that really 250 cc motorcycle?

almost modified offroad looking test mule.

Few day's back almost every Indian automotive site were talking about TVS's spied bike, speculating  spied bike is Draken inspired 250 cc bike, while this may be true that bike has employed host of technological update from Draken concept, but truth may far from fact.
Draken 250

Draken was shown in last years auto expo at Delhi, short stroke liquid cool single with 250 cc putting some 38 bhp at very high 12000 rpm which is hard to believe. But again giving over optimistic figures in such big expo grabs media's attention cause no one care's to prove those no's and even if that bike make's somehow to production version with same power ,
Even Draken's dash seems inspired by Superduke 1290's dash.
we're sure Draken won't gonna pass sound pollution test because of almost muffler less exhaust pipe to which TVS proudly calls reverse exhaust! TVS really ? anyways bike looks fantastic and futuristic with Superduke 1290 inspired bulky tank.

New frame is apparent, piston block cooling fins are visible, monoshock is present.

Now  let's have look at these test mules look's somewhat incomplete because TVS have removed excessive plastic cowls to hide identity of bike, In this second spied image if you look with your precise eyes , you will see cooling fins around piston block and this single clue is enough for us to understand that this isn't Draken 250 employ power plant, instead it's bore up version of Apache 180 block and may be TVS is willing to brought Apache 180 in 200 cc format, or to increase power of existing Apache 180 by increasing compression ratio and adding 4 valve setup! whatever it is but we're sure TVS don't wants to jump from 180 cc to direct 250cc. from the spy picture you can also see there is no double cradle frame like current model instead there is new perimeter or trellis frame just like Draken so like we said before TVS is using technological development taken in Draken but this bike is no 250 cc Draken, instead bike that spied is upgraded Apache. Draken was relatively premium bike and we don't believe TVS will test that bike on public road just like what hero did with their HX 250R.

KTM's smaller street fighter, Duke 200 to get minor update.

KTM have updated it's 2015 model's of 390 twins , that's Duke 390 and RC 390 and now finally they're updating Duke 200 as for now  it's 4th year of this baby Duke from it's launching year of 2012. Therefor update is necessary for various reason such as staying competitive in segment or staying fresh in public's mind what ever it is, Update helps to keep selling figure consistency and that's what important for brand.
So here is what update you'll get in Duke 200,
1) first of all bike getting new sealed bearings to prevent oil leak,
2)new radiator design for better heat dissipation as with older model almost any having complaint to          heavy heat at legs during stop and go traffic.
3)Redesign front and rear fender with better quality material.
4)New sealed indicators for prevention of electrical damage from water.
5)Dust proof cover for shock.
6)Newer design collar sprocket.
7) RC 200's wider tire mud cover.
8) Better design belly pan.
9)longer service intervals.
and some other nit pic updates. there is no plan for mechanical update and thus motor is same 199.5 cc cracking out 25 bhp with 19.2 Nm of torque driven through 6 speed gearbox. We can expect official update announcement in following weeks.

Pulsar 150 NS fully production model shown in Turkey, with 17 bhp of power

THE ANALYSIS ON  UPCOMING BAJAJ PULSAR 150 NS

Bajaj showcase Pulsar 150 NS at Recently held Trade Fair in Turkey, Bike looks exactly same as last time displayed in Turkey with exception in tall windshield at front, For the first time bike's tail cowl have written 150NS clearly, thus confusion regarding powerplant's displacement sort outs.
150 NS is inspired by it's bigger brother 200 NS , the research and development efforts taken in 200 NS, Bajaj is putting in 150 NS so it's no surprise 150 NS share's large no of parts with 200 NS such as headlamp assembly, signals, perimeter frame, rider and pillion seats, riders and pillion footpegs, front disk brake, switches, instrument cluster, mighty looking tank, rear tail cowl, tail lamp and grab rails hushh that's hell of parts sharing, so much so that 150 NS and 200 NS are unable distinguish to normal eyes until they don't look at rear mudgaurd.

Let's have look at it's power unit, the displacement is remain same as before 149.5cc but rather than heavy revising, we believe it's new power plant with slight change in bore and stroke because engine is now producing 17 bhp at stratospheric 9000 rpm and peak torque of 13 nm come's at 7500 rpm, looking at those no's coming at such high rpm there's hint that engine is slightly short stroke , as we speculated earlier engine is mated to 4 valve setup this is also major cause to move power figure's higher in rev range, driven by 5 speed gearbox this is triple spark engine with air cooled setup. We highly believe that this engine is refine than previous one but low and mid power range surge of previous gen motor is given away for high rev biased nature, therefor engine doesn't sounds like city friendly instead it'll good for highway blasts, let Bajaj's exhaust tech do it's working for torque availability cause exhaust tech box can be seen hanging to the exhaust pipe just below engine.

Box section swing arms seems same as previous, holding 17 inch rims with 200 NS rims design, there is something which isn't seems right with bike ! that's rear drum brake? Bajaj are you kidding ? hope they will keep rear disk at least as an option. split seat setup is exactly as 200NS and we believe pillion comfort is going to be hampered compare to previous version, also rider seat is seems to be higher side which is bad considering previous one was good even for short riders. anything above 800 mm is worst for short riders.

With such heavy amount of overhauling this 150NS is going to be bloody good in it's handling and riding dynamics hats of to that perimeter frame and monoshock, it's level of performance which was previously accessible to only R15 and baby fireblade.

150 NS is expected to launch post to launch event of 200 SS , !50 NS with compete with Suzuki Gixxer ,Yamaha FZ series, but with big amount in power numbers probably 150 NS will be segment leader in India.
